Vera started eating at about 6 months and hasn't turned a bite down. She is quick to grab anything she can get in her mouth. She really enjoys self feeding!
I am not sure who won in these pics Vera vs. the Berries but one thing I know is that I lost with this mess. Vera has been sitting for sometime now and "thinks" she can walk. It is obviously something I do that both my children skip crawling and go for the walking-needless to say Vera loves anyone that has an extra hand to get her places. Thinking crawling sounds like a great idea...at least to mom!
Charlie made Stella a new chair for meals. Speaking of Stella-
(watching the morning news when a picture of the Capitol comes on)..."Mom, that is Washington DC where Auntie lives"!!!
(I was taking a shower and Stella was suppose to be watching a show in our room. I had got a giant chocolate bar in my stocking at Christmas that I had been breaking off and eating little pieces and just left the bar on the kitchen counter. I come out to the kitchen to look for Stella.)..."Mom, I just ate your chocolate bar, so what would like for a snack?" as she is walking over to the pantry to find an alternative for me. Charlie was out in the front yard so I yell out to him to come inside, he comes in and Stella says, "Well...., Dad, you can have these cookies because I at the chocolate bar."
She can peel a cutie (citrus fruit) faster then you can eat it...and will peel more then you want to eat!
(My family was here for Christmas and I was driving my mom and Howard to over where they were going to be staying which was the room above the girls "school" house that is a studio. Kels and Stella are in the back of the car.) Stella looks at kels and says "Auntie, did you bring your computer?" She was already plotting who's phone/computer she was going to be claiming as hers.
But who really needs a chair when you have the floor, a jar of PB and the floor?!?! Apparently, when I said just a minute and I will get it for you was not fast enough for this independent two year old.
Growing up every year my family went to Christmas Vespers at KU. We attended our first Vespers at CNU-it was great! We had orchestra box seats and the girls enjoyed all the music!
Stella doing her favorite thing...reading!
This Christmas we were home. We unpacked our Christmas decorations for the first time in 4 years. It was great-makes me never want to travel again for the Holidays.
My sister, mom and Howard came for a couple days at Christmas. Enjoyed our time with company! Good Food, Good Games ( including Crimes against Humanity), Good Movies, Great Gifts, Charity Christmas (our organization WON this year-Fisher House), Good Walks...Good times!
Opening a cash register from Gigi and Howard!
Hungry Hippos from Auntie.
First of many games of hungry hippos.
Christmas morning started early at our house....430 early-the girls decided sleep was not needed!
Sneaking out to play on her new cash register Christmas morning.
My warm blooded little girl.
Helping Daddy open.
What every 2 year old needs...a pair of scissors in their stocking...not just one pair but two!
Playing with my new Dr set!
Opening the train from Granny and Papizan.
Opening Little People Farm!
My Dad came on the 28th for a couple days. He made it just in time so we could take Vera to the ER for day four of fever, coughing, green snot and diarrhea only to be told only to come back if it lasts 10 days. She was negative for flu, RSV and her chest xray was okay. Now, we are going on two and a half weeks of the cough. Hoping the end is in sight! Although it wasn't the flu my PSA...get your flu shot people!
So really it was nice for my Dad to be able to stay with Stella so Charlie and I could both take Vera to the ER and Stella wasn't hesitant to stay with my dad at all.
When she got up in the morning after my dad had arrived after bedtime the night before Stella sees my dad's shoes and says, "Gramps, you have TOMS just like me." My dad couldn't believe a two year old knew about Toms!
She was quick to tell him where the chocolate was for after she peed in the potty....and direct him on the exact type of snack she wanted too-toast with strawberry cream cheese!
Stella opening a gift from Gramps.
Dad opening his picture Stella made
Vera in front of the tree-after an ER visit that day.
Stella and the Christmas tree.
Vera sitting on Santa...oh...Stella's lap!
Testing out the new trailer from Gramps!
Cooking dinner with Gramps!
Helping...aka...tasting the dessert
We had a large tree in our front yard taken down right after Christmas. It has a lean to it that if it fell it was going to hit the house. I wasn't to concerned about it until a neighbors tree fell during Sandy. When the arborist looked at the trees, this one was questionable so we had it removed. Quite the project! To the guys who do this-it is quite an art!
Roping, cutting and taking down one limb at a time.
Almost all the branches gone.
To tall for the cherry picker truck, so the guy scales the tree!
The very top coming down!
We had them hall away all the large wood and Charlie kept the branches and has cut and split the bulk of the wood. We have a beautiful stack now-almost done-pics to follow. I guess next year we will have to have more then the two fires we have had this year.
In the morning we will be accompanying our lil water bug (vera) and lil water skipper (stella) to their first swim lessons.
